Sport News

At Woodland Grange we pride ourselves in providing inclusive, sporting opportunities for all of our pupils. We have a sports coach who teaches the children once a week, working alongside the teachers (who teach the second session) to deliver high quality PE to the children in our school. We ensure that our lessons are fun, engaging and inclusive with a strong emphasis on developing skills that are transferable between sports and outdoor activities. We are proud to be able to offer a vast PE curriculum that gives children maximum opportunity to experience all kinds of sports, allowing children, all the way through school, the chance to succeed in Physical Education and Sport.

For the third year running, Woodland Grange has received gold in the School Games Mark. This reflects the dedication of the staff attending multiple sporting events, a variety of extra-curricular activities provided before, throughout and after the school day, targeted group sessions and whole school movements to increase involvement in sport and physical activity. We are a member of the South Leicestershire School Sports Partnership, who support us, to ensure the children get the most out of sport and physical activity during their time at Primary School. Mrs Pearce and Mr Evans work together to ensure that children are given as many opportunities to increase their physical movement and use feedback from the children to tailor this. We have playground leaders running daily games and activities and sports ambassadors to run virtual competitions for the School Sports Partnership. As a school, we won Primary School of the Year 2022/23, which truly reflects the dedication to the children and the many opportunities that we provide.
